Pack, Lawrence Victor

Lawrence (known as Lol) was the fourth son of William Waldock Pack and Annie Maria (nee Berry) Pack, born on 20 November 1897 at Ashwell, Hertfordshire.  He was a pupil at the Merchant Taylors School in Ashwell.

Lawrence enlisted with the Hertfordshire Territorial Regiment, Regimental Number 5554, in September 1915.  No military history is known but during the War Lawrence transferred to the Labour Corps, Regimental Number 536352.  He survived the War.

Lawrence was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.

Lawrence also served in WW2 but no history is known.

Lawrence ran a small farm based at Greith House in High St, Ashwell.  He was a very keen sportsman in his younger days and was an active member of the Ashwell cricket team.

Lawrence married Frances Mary Christy in the 1st quarter 1928. They had no children.  Frances died in October 1959.  Lawrence then married Myra Winifred (nee Anderson) Christy in 3rd quarter 1960.

The 1939 census shows them living in Ashwell with Lawrence a farmer and agricultural engineer.

Lawrence died at Steeple Morden on 11 June 1991.

Lawrence’s brother Frederick served with the Canadian Expeditionary Forces, and his brother Stanley served with the Royal Engineers.  Both survived the War.
