Friends of Ashwell Museum

The Friends of Ashwell Village Museum support the Curator and Trustees with the day-to-day running of the Museum and help with fundraising to assist in purchasing new artefacts and the care of existing exhibits. We also organize the opening of the museum on Sundays, Bank Holiday Mondays and at other times if requested. We provide a team of Volunteers to do this with the support of another team who regularly keep the Museum clean and welcoming for Visitors.

Trips and Talks

We support everything mentioned above and to include everyone who is interested in the Museum we arrange open mornings and evenings from time to time. We also run coach trips about twice a year as well as some evening Talks. In recent years our coach trips have included Canterbury, Leicester and the Richard III Exhibition, Stratford upon Avon and Windsor. On 28th April 2022 we plan to Visit the National Memorial Arboretum. For further information on that please contact Karen Mills 01462742155 or Hilary Masham 01462742416.

Our Talks in recent years have included one on the Archaeology of Ashwell and the Surrounding area, and another by John Mills our local internationally renowned Sculptor on his work with particular reference to his iconic Women at War Memorial in Whitehall.  On Wednesday 8th June 2022 we will welcome back Keith Fitzpatrick Matthews. His title will be ‘Placenames, The Language Changes and the History of North Hertfordshire’. This will be a ticketed event. Please see the Events page or contact us nearer the time for details.

Further Trips and Talks will be arranged during 2022.
