Robinson, Thomas Percy

Thomas was born at Ashwell, Hertfordshire on 1 May 1891, elder son of Thomas and Shirley (nee Picking) Robinson.  He was a pupil at the Merchant Taylors School in Ashwell.

Nothing is known of Thomas’s military history.  He enlisted on 1 March 1917 and survived the War.

He is commemorated on the St Mary’s Church Ashwell Roll of Honour.

Before enlisting he was a labourer on a farm.

Thomas married Minnie Ward in the 3rd quarter 1915.  They had a daughter who died in infancy.

The 1939 census shows him living in Bygrave Road, Baldock, Hertfordshire and working as a railway engineer (lengthsman – someone who looked after a specific length of track).

Thomas died at Letchworth Hospital, Hertfordshire on 12 May 1942.
