Hollingworth, Frederick

Frederick was the eldest son of Philip and Louisa (nee Huffer) Hollingsworth, born at Ashwell on 17 March 1862.  He was a pupil at the Merchant Taylors School in Ashwell.

Nothing is known of Frederick’s military history except that he enlisted on 7 August 1914 and was a sergeant with the Royal Army Medical Corps.   He survived the War.

He is commemorated on the St Mary’s Church Ashwell Roll of Honour.

The 1891 census shows him living in Islington, London and working as a platelayer for the railways.

Frederick married Mary Jane Worboys at Ashwell in the third quarter 1892.  They had three children, all born in Islington, London: Dora Elizabeth Louise born 1893, Mabel born 1895 and Percy James born 1897.

The 1911 census shows the family living in Walthamstow, Essex.  The 1939 census shows Frederick  (retired) and Mary Jane staying with Charles and Martha Burton in Ashwell, Hertfordshire.

Frederick died in Walthamstow, Essex in 4th quarter 1941.
