Edward King Fordham at Harrow School

Edward was the eldest son of Edward Snow Fordham and Annie (nee Carr Jackson) Fordham, born at Ashwell, Hertfordshire on the 20 January 1881.

Edward enlisted in April 1915.  He saw active service as a Lieutenant with the 33rd Division, Trains,  Royal Army Service Corps on the Western Front, France and Flanders from October 1916.   Edward survived the War.

He was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.

Edward is commemorated on the St Mary’s Church Ashwell Roll of Honour.

He was educated at Little Wymondley Preparatory School in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, Harrow School in Middlesex, and Trinity College Cambridge where he gained a BA in 1902.  In 1903 he is shown as being ‘in the dramatic profession’. After the War he returned home to Ashwell, Hertfordshire as heir after his father died in February 1919.

Edward was not married and died suddenly on 27 July 1922 at Weymouth, Dorset.  He is buried at Ashwell, Hertfordshire.

His brothers, Hugh Alexander and Oswald, served in the War and survived.
