Harry enlisted at Nottingham, Nottinghamshire on 6th April 1915 with the Royal Garrison Artillery, Regimental Number 208030. He served as a gunner at No.4 Depot in Ripon, Yorkshire. He suffered from heart problems and was discharged physically unfit in June 1918. He survived the War but it is not known when he died but it was after 1954.
He is commemorated on the St Mary’s Church Ashwell Roll of Honour.

Harry was born on 28th December 1886, the fourth son of Leopold and Mary Ann Elizabeth (nee Bonfield) at Ashwell, Hertfordshire. He was a pupil at the Merchant Taylors School. He followed the family tradition and became a master baker.
He married Mary Alice Burton Woodhouse on 2nd January 1912 at the Parish Church in Attenborough, Nottingham. They had one son, Joseph Harry Woodhouse, born 1st June 1918 at Nottingham. They lived in Sneinton, Nottinghamshire and Harry had a bakery on Sneinton Rd, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire.
It is not known when Harry died but he was still trading at his bakery in 1954.
Harry’s brothers Jack, Cyril, Charles Leopold and Edward all served in the War and survived. Arthur was killed in action at Abbeville on the Somme.
