Nothing is known of his military history but the Absent Voters list of 1918 shows him at the Labour Centre, Regimental Number 355069, Northern Command. I presume this to be the Command Depots for the rehabilitative training of soldiers too fit for convalescent camp, but not yet fit enough to be returned to unit. The Northern Command was in Ripon, Yorkshire.

Frank survived the War and returned to Ashwell.  He died in 1963.
