Museum Location

The museum collection is housed in an iconic late medieval timber-framed building with a modern architect designed extension. It is Grade II* listed. It stands in Swan Street facing north looking down Mill Street.

Opening Times

  • We are open every Sunday and Bank Holiday from 2.30 to 5.00 pm
  • At present entrance is free but we rely upon donations from visitors to keep the museum open and suggest at least £2.50 per adult
  • Parties and special visits can be arranged at any mutually convenient time

Open as usual

We are back in business again with plenty for you to see including  old favourites and many new discoveries from our stores which we have brought out for your delight.

We are open on the advertised times but there is often someone working in the museum who will let you in. (especially Tuesday afternoons) So please try the door if yo are passing.

On the second Tuesday of each month at 2.30pm we run ‘Makers at the Museum’ which combines history and craft with tea and cakes. All Welcome.

Volunteers

Volunteer groups work in the museum on  Tuesday afternoons, 2.30 to 4.30pm. These are good times to drop in but if you are coming a long way please ring or email beforehand to make sure someone is there.

Donations

We do not currently charge for entry. Donations towards out running costs are very much welcomed. We are a Registered Charity No. 271473 and the entrance fee we normally charge is our only regular source of income. Donations can be made by card via the Donation Button on this website.
