Edward enlisted in April 1915.  He saw active service as a Lieutenant with the 33rd Division, Trains,  Royal Army Service Corps on the Western Front, France and Flanders from October 1916.

Edward survived the War and died suddenly at Weymouth, Dorset on 27th July 1922.

He was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.

Edward is commemorated on the St Mary’s Church Ashwell Roll of Honour and buried at Ashwell, Hertfordshire.

Edward was the eldest son of Edward Snow Fordham and Annie Carr (nee Jackson) Fordham, born at Ashwell, Hertfordshire on the 20th January 1881. 

He was educated at Little Wymondley Preparatory School in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, Harrow School in Middlesex, and Trinity College Cambridge where he gained a BA in 1902.  In 1903 he is shown as being ‘in the dramatic profession’. After the War he returned home to Ashwell, Hertfordshire as heir after his father died in February 1919.

Edward was not married and died suddenly on 27th July 1922 at Weymouth, Dorset.
