Kingsley, Ernest William

Ernest was the only son of John and Agnes (nee Harper) born at Kelshall, Hertfordshire on 17 February 1883.

Ernest enlisted on 13 March 1917.  He was a gunner with P Battery, Royal Horse Artillery.  It appears P Battery was based in Woolwich so Ernest would have spent the War in England.  He survived the War

He is buried in St Mary’s Churchyard, Ashwell and commemorated on the St Mary’s Church Ashwell Roll of Honour.

Ernest married Georgina Elizabeth Phillips atWyddial, Hertfordshire on 5 June 1912.  They had one son, Derrick Phillip born  April 1914.

The 1939 census shows them living in Ashwell, with Ernest a brewery sales manager.

Ernest was a cashier to Messrs E.K. & H. Fordham Ltd, brewers, and his son Derrick held this position after him.

He died at the Lister Hospital on 17 April 1961.
