High St-next to Rose & Crown

Worboys is one of the old Ashwell families. Les Worboys lost a leg in the 1914-1918 war.He was then trained as a boot and shoe repairer, and opened a shop opposite the blacksmiths and next door to the Rose and Crown.
In the photo the Cherry Blossem shoe polish adverts can be seen above the shop door.
The shop closed in the 1960’s and was demolished. The area where it was is now part of the Rose and Crown car park.
