There are still three 15th Century Hall Houses in the High Street, The Rose and Crown Inn, Kirby Manor and the Bear Farm now the residence of Mr and Mrs L Colquhoun. Previously, Mr J Newsom, Director of Education for Hertfordshire resided here. At the West End of the village is a beautiful old Tudor farm-house, the Westbury, which was in the possession of the Christy family for over three hundred years.
