Ralph enlisted with the Army Reserve Regiment, Regimental Number 2763, at Woolwich, London on 8th December 1915. On the 19th September 1916 he was mobilised with the Territorial Expeditionary Force, Regimental Number 202474 and went to the Western Front, France and Flanders where he sustained a slight gunshot wound to the head.
Ralph survived the war and died on 20th May 1951.
He was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.
He is commemorated on the St Mary’s Church Ashwell Roll of Honour.

Ralph was the fifth son of Stephen and Charlotte (nee Waldock) Waldock, born at Ashwell, Hertfordshire in the 1st quarter 1882. He was a pupil at the Merchant Taylors School in Ashwell. Before enlisting he was a bricklayer’s labourer.
Ralph married Fanny Pressland at West Green, North London on 24th December 1900. They had one son, Frederick Charles Leslie, born at Tottenham, London on 13th June 1902.
Fanny died in 1921 and Ralph married again, to Rose Isabella Longhurst in 4th quarter 1922.
Ralph died on 20th May 1951.
