Oswald enlisted in September 1914 with the Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Regiment, Light Infantry Battalion and was commissioned temporary 2nd Lieutenant.  Nothing is known of his war history but it is believed he saw active service on the Western Front, France and Flanders.  He was wounded at the end of 1916 and was invalided out of the army.  He survived the War and died on 29th November 1962

Oswald was awarded the British War Medal, the Victory Medal and the Silver War Badge.

He is commemorated on the St Mary’s Church Ashwell Roll of Honour.

Oswald was born at Ashwell, Hertfordshire in September 1889, the second son of Edward Snow Fordham and Annie (nee Carr Jackson) Fordham.  He was educated at Northaw School, Hatfield and Trinity College, Cambridge.

It is not known if Oswald married or had children.

Oswald had his home in London but spent a lot of time travelling the world.

He died on 29th November 1962.
