Mynott enlisted with 12th Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry, Regimental Number 25121, on 12th March 1916.  He then transferred to the 2/4 (King’s Own) Yorkshire Light Infantry, Regimental Number 36699, and transferred through the 12th Battalion, the 2nd Battalion, and then to the 10th Battalion. All of these battalions saw active service on the Western Front, France and Flanders. In April 1918 Mynott was reported to be in Hospital in Manchester suffering from gas poisoning. He survived the War and was demobbed on 28th January 1919.

Mynott survived the War and died at Ashwell on 13th November 1938.

Mynott was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal

He is commemorated on the St Mary’s Church Ashwell Roll of Honour.

Mynott was the 3rd son of Mynott and Martha (nee Worboys) Reynolds, born in the 2nd quarter 1879 at Ashwell, Hertfordshire.  He was a pupil at the Merchant Taylors School in Ashwell. Before enlisting Mynott was a brewer’s labourer.

It is thought Mynott did not marry as he left his estate to Amos Covington.

Mynott died at Ashwell on 13th November 1938.
