John enlisted on 19th April 1918 with the Royal East Kent Regiment (The Buffs), Regimental Number G/25934. On 30th September 1918 he transferred to the Royal Air Force, Regimental Number 299525, but on 4th November 1918 suffered a fractured thigh and was discharged as no longer fit to serve.
John survived the War but it is not known when he died.
He was awarded the Silver War Badge.
He is commemorated on the St Mary’s Church Ashwell Roll of Honour.
