Hubert enlisted on 9th November 1915 with the Royal Engineers, Regimental Number 140118. Nothing is known of is military history.

Hubert was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal.

He is commemorated on the St Mary’s Church Ashwell Roll of Honour.

Hubert was the third son of Samuel and Charlotte (nee Arnold) Radford, born in the first quarter 1871 at Ashwell, Hertfordshire. He was a pupil at the Merchant Taylors School in Ashwell. The 1911 census shows him working as a carpenter joiner.

Hubert married Nellie Bray in the first quarter of 1922 at Ashwell. They had one daughter, Mary, born at Ashwell in the 2nd quarter 1923.

Hubert died in the Hitchin District, (probably Ashwell) in the 4th quarter 1940.
