Nothing is known of Frederick’s military history except that he enlisted in January 1916 and survived the War.

It is presumed that because Frederick did not leave the Metropolitan Police until 1920 and had been seconded to the War Department at the Arsenal Magazines on Plumstead Marshes (now Thamesmead) in 1897 that he was still stationed there during the War.

He died at the Lister Hospital, Hitchin, Hertfordshire on 9th May 1957.

He is commemorated on the St Mary’s Church Ashwell Roll of Honour.
