Arthur enlisted at Ampthill on 14th December 1915. He served with the 4th Battalion of the Bedfordshire Regiment, Regimental number 23725, in the Western European Theatre of War, France and Flanders. He died of wounds on 30th April 1917.
Arthur was awarded the Victory Medal and the British War Medal.
Arthur is buried in Aubigny Communal Cemetery Extension, Aubigny-en-Artois, Departement de Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France and commemorated on the St Mary’s Church Ashwell Roll of Honour and the Ashwell Village War Memorial.

Arthur was born in Ashwell, the second son of George and Lucy (nee Waldock) Worboys of Ashwell. He was a pupil of the Merchant Taylors School in Ashwell.
Before enlisting Arthur was a farm labourer.
Arthur married Ethel Winfred Hines on 30th March 1907 and they had three sons, Reginald Arthur born 5th January 1908, Stanley born 20th August 1909 and Edgar born 3rd January 1912.
