Montague Austin

        Name:     Montague Austin

 Regiment:      Kings Royal Rifles

    History:       A Sergeant, R/10078, in the 10th Battalion Kings Royal Rifle Corps.,  59th Brigade 20th (Light) Division.

He died of wounds on 16th March 1917 aged 24 whilst in the line outside Guillemont, Somme, France . 

Montague Austin was the son of Charles and Emma Austin of Foresters Cottages, High Street, Ashwell. 

He is buried at Grove Toxyn Cemetery,  Near Albert, Somme.  Plot IV C 21.

Inscription on the Headstone: is “Peace perfect Peace EA.”
