After the Whitby Farm development was completed it was agreed with Highways and County Councillor Tony Hunter that the Silver Street footpath should be re-laid as it had been disturbed on numerous occasions during the development and was in a very poor state.

It was also agreed that the badly damaged road at the junction of Silver Street and Kingsland Way should be repaired and road markings reinstated at the same time as the footpath work.

This work was carried out in February 2015 by a very pleasant, polite and helpful Highways Team.

The weather did not help as it snowed on and off impeding their progress but the outcome was well worth any inconvenience.  How long will it be before it is disturbed again? August 2015 when BT laid a new line to my house, 13 Silver Street!

There have been a number of accidents at the Silver Street/Kingsland Way junction which have impacted on the Ashwell United Reformed Church property;  it is hoped that a bollard will be located at this junction, opposite the URC in the not too distant future to prevent parking on this dangerous corner.
