Renovation Open Day

The next open day is on Saturday 28th September from 10 to 11am

There will be an opportunity to see the how the lime plaster is applied in the traditional way and find out why it is so important to use these well-tested materials.

On Saturday 31st August  10 to 11 am we welcomed visitors to view and discuss with the experts the renovation work that was already carried out on the museum. Now we are passed the stage of timber repairs and are starting to replace the infill with lime plaster on traditional split laths. The roof will also be re-tiled

On site will be – Peter Rawlings, Architect & Project Director, and Les Hopton from the contractors FA Valiant & Son

In addition you will be able to find out how and why the restoration was needed, the principles behind the planned work and the prospects of it lasting another 100 years.

We look forward to seeing you.
