Percy enlisted on 13th January 1916.  Nothing is known of his military history. He survived the War and died on 10th September 1981.

He is commemorated on the St Mary’s Church Ashwell Roll of Honour.

Percy was the younger son of George Edward William and Elizabeth (nee Jeeves) Pettengell, born at Ashwell, Hertfordshire in the 4th quarter 1895. He was a pupil at the Merchant Taylor School in Ashwell.

Percy married Clara Louise Rollins in the 3rd quarter 1916. They had two children, Francis A born 1917 and Mavis H born 1922. They lived in Stotfold, Bedfordshire.

Percy died on 10th September 1981.

Percy’s brother Fred also served in the War and survived.
