Joseph enlisted with the Royal Navy on 26th February 1918.  Nothing is known of his military history except from the Absent Voters Lists. Joseph survived the War and died at Ashwell on 27th September 1984.

After the War Joseph remained in the Navy travelling the China Seas, Pacific Waters and East Indies Waters and was possibly still in the Navy when WW2 broke out.

He is commemorated on the St Mary’s Church Ashwell Roll of Honour.

Joseph was born at Islington, London in the 1st quarter 1901, the elder son of Joseph and Annie (nee Harradine) Waldock.  He was a pupil at the Merchant Taylors School in Ashwell. 

Joseph married Olive May Brooks at Ashwell, Hertfordshire in the 4th Quarter 1927.  They had one son, Jack Graham, born in 3rd quarter 1932.

Joseph died at Ashwell on 27th September 1984.
