Harry enlisted on 18th April 1918 with the Royal Engineers, Inland Waterways and Docks Company 4MS, Regimental Number 333908. It is likely he served on the Western Front, France and Flanders.

Harry survived the War and died on 5 September 1982 at Letchworth, Hertfordshire.

He is commemorated on the St Mary’s Church Ashwell Roll of Honour.

Harry was born on 21st December 1896 in Ashwell, Hertfordshire the third son of Henry and Anna (nee Ebsworth) Bonnett.  He was a pupil at the Merchant Taylors School in Ashwell. 

Harry married Edith Hinstridge in the 2nd quarter 1925 at St Mary’s Church, Hitchin, Hertfordshire.  They had one son, Roger A, born in 1930.

Harry died on 5 September 1982 at Letchworth, Hertfordshire.

Harry’s brother Clifford Gilbert also served in WWI and survived.
