Private 41 Eversden, who was born in Ashwell, was the son of Emma Eversden of Church Lane, Ashwell.

William Eversden who was 27 years old enlisted in Hitchin on September 8th 1914 and was sent out to France in February 1915. He was killed in Action during the 2nd Battle of Ypres on 8th May 1915. There is no known grave but he is Commemorated on Panel 34 of Menin Gate Ypres Belgium. ( details from National Archives at Kew)
