Cyril enlisted at the Duke of York Barracks in Chelsea, London on 8th April 1915. He served with the Royal Army Medical Corps, 1st London Sanitary Company, Regimental Number 527544, as a Sanitary Inspection Clerk. On 9th March 1916 he embarked for France. He served with various Sanitary Companies and by 6th June 1919 had attained the rank of Acting Sergeant. On 28th June 1919 Cyril was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal. He survived the war and was disembodied on 19th July 1919. It is not known when Cyril died.

Cyril was awarded the British War Medal, the Victory Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal. 

He is commemorated on the St Mary’s Church Ashwell Roll of Honour.

Cyril was the sixth son of Leopold and Mary Ann Elizabeth (nee Bonfield) Day, born at Ashwell, Hertfordshire on 14th September 1891. He was a pupil at the Merchant Taylors School in Ashwell. Before enlisting Cyril worked as a clerk for Messrs Whitbread & Co, Britannia St, London.

It is not known if Cyril married nor if he had children.
